So yeah,
Turns out resolutions to write your blog don't really hold up so well. Well, letting that go--Don't you want to know what kind of crazy adventure I've been up to? Yes? Well it's basically been a vacation that I would take at home. I (for a while) woke up every morning/afternoon at 1 PM until I started feeling like a jerk and then I started getting up a bit earlier--think 11:30. The BU center opened up this past Monday so sometimes I walk down that way to have a nice chat with Bonnie and Mara, grab a cup of tea with Claudia, you know how it goes. In these past few weeks I have actually been trying to find a job for the summer so that is what has taken up much of my time--that and American music and TV shows like 30 Rock and Miranda. So far I have three choices but they all seem pretty difficult to get and as of now I am almost finished with one application (after about 30 e-mails sent to various departments and professors ecc.). The next two prove to be more difficult because they are both probably highly competitive and are located in Boston. One is pretty heavily paid and it is sponsored by a big name university *cough think cough Harvard cough*. So we'll see...I haven't decided if I want to stay here for seven more months. As of right now I think that I am withstanding the cabin fever pretty well, but the thing is, I still feel feverish even when I'm walking outside. I just miss those big 'ol wide open spaces (think Hey Arnold, remember that one? "Wide open spaces, wide open spaces, wide open spaces"). No but mostly I believe that everyone who lives away from home for more than 5 months without going home or seeing key family members (i.e. my parents) experiences the same feeling. I'd love to be on the tram and scream "AMERICA! AMERICA!" I actually am contemplating buying a flag. I'm serious, I want an American flag so I can wear it around my neck. I would love to see the reactions but...
Other things...I watched "Fried Green Tomatoes" with my host sister and thought it was pretty decent. Today I watched a show in English that I have only ever seen in Italian and can I just say that when you discover how a person's real voice sounds there is a sense of disappointment that comes along with it. As in, "this voice is too high for this person" or "his accent is strangely more Canadian than I thought it would be". Oh TV/technology/dubbing. Thanks for that.
Yesterday while waiting for the tram (or the other day maybe?) I saw a guy about age hmmm late 20's wearing an Indiana Jones hat. Best thing about living here=if you have confidence you can wear whatever you want WHATEVER you want. Haha, I thought to myself "too stylish and clean for that hat" and then laughed a bit. Ange is coming this weekend to visit and I'm pretty excited, we'll see how this goes. We plan to do some major exploring of Venice and Florence. Other things...nah not much to say because honestly all I do is chat in Italian/write letters and e-mails/watch Bob Dylan interviews from the 1960's. I'll keep you posted. Cheers family/friends!
